Salik has renewed its tolling technology contract for Dubai's road toll system with US company TransCore for another five years, extending a partnership that dates back to 2006.

The agreement covers the continued development of systems and technology supporting tolling operations, including the potential use of artificial intelligence and other digital solutions.

Salik said the partnership will also support its expansion into other mobility payment services, including parking.

The company said there was no material change to the expected financial impact compared with the previous contract, with annual operating expenses expected to remain at between 5 and 5.5 per cent of total annual revenue.

The renewed agreement also includes requirements covering cybersecurity, sustainability, maintenance, governance and business continuity.

Ibrahim Al Haddad, Chief Executive Officer of Salik, said the company plans to use advanced technologies and digital solutions to improve operational performance and support its expansion into a broader range of mobility services.
