Ski Dubai in Dubai's Mall of the Emirates will host 10 events next season, including a snow volleyball tournament, snow yoga and a fixed-wheel snow cycling championship.

Dubai Sports Council has adopted the upcoming programme.

The snow volleyball tournament will make Dubai the first city in Asia and the Middle East to host such an event, while snow yoga will be a unique experience for participants, alongside the fixed-wheel cycling championship.

All the events will be held in accordance with the COVID-19 precautionary measures and protocols as mandated by relevant authorities.

Besides these sports, Ski Dubai is scheduled to host a number of other national and international tournaments including the UAE Alpine Ski Championship, UAE National Ski and Snowboard Freestyle Championship and the 12th edition of Ice Warrior Challenge.

Austrian Martin Dolezal, who launched the Snowsports Academy in Dubai last April in cooperation with Ski Dubai and UAE Skiers Academy,  praised the winter sports facilities in the emirate and thanked Dubai Sports Council for its support.

His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, and Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Council, met Dolezal in the presence of Ali Omar Al Balooshi, Director of the Council’s Sports Development department, and Mohammed El Etri, Vice President of Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment, and Ibrahim Khadim of UAE Skiers Academy.

It provides an opportunity for snow sports enthusiasts of different nationalities and age to train under the guidance of top international instructors and improve their skills, Dolezal added.
