Organizers have confirmed on Wednesday that the 2020 Ryder Cup has been postponed to 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The golfing event between the United States and Europe was due to be held at Whistling Straits, Wisconsin from September 25 to 27.

It will now take place from September 24 to 26 next year.

Professional men's golf has resumed in the United States behind closed doors, however, players have expressed that the biennial event should not go ahead without fans.
