According to Ajman Police, the blaze erupted in one of the towers of the Pearl residential complex.

The building was evacuated and the flames were quickly brought under control by the Civil Defence teams.

Nine people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, while two suffered moderate injuries.

Cooling operations are currently underway at the site.

It was the second fire tackled by the authorities in Ajman on Friday.

Earlier in the day, a fire that broke out in the emirate's Industrial Area destroyed an oil and lubricants factory, a residential building, and a number of warehouses and cars.
