DEWA Sat-2 launch rescheduled

Twitter

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that the launch of its second nanosatellite - DEWA Sat-2 - has been rescheduled to April 12 due to "unfavourable weather conditions".

The launch, by SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in California, will now take place from 10:30 am on Wednesday.

Part of their Space-D programme, the DEWA Sat-2 will provide continuous line-scan imaging in seven spectral bands from an orbit of approximately 500km.

It is equipped with a high-resolution camera for Earth observation missions and infrared equipment to measure greenhouse gases.

DEWA is the first utility company in the world to launch nanosatellites to support the digitalisation of electricity and water networks.
