The United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) has thanked the UAE for helping airlift essential food items to the Central African Republic.

More than 52 tonnes of nutritious high energy biscuits have been sent from the WFP’s depot at the International Humanitarian City in Dubai.

The plane was facilitated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The aid shipment will benefit around 35,000 people over a period of two months.

The Central African Republic has one of the most acute humanitarian crises in the world due to years of ongoing conflict.

High-energy biscuits (HEB) offer a quick and easy way to respond to basic nutritional requirements for people in need during emergencies.
