UN Secretary-General António Guterres said he was "deeply alarmed" by reports of drones targeting the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi.

He said attacks on nuclear installations are "totally unacceptable, a violation of international law and must be condemned".

Guterres urged all "sides to halt fighting completely", stressing that there "must be no further attacks near civilian infrastructure, including nuclear power plants".

Of the three drones that entered the country’s territory from the western border on Saturday, one hit an electricity generator outside the inner perimeter of the nuclear plant.

There were no injuries and no impact on radiation safety levels.
