The UAE's Federal Youth Authority (FYA) has highlighted the role of young people in helping break the chain of COVID-19 infection.

During the latest government media briefing, the authority's Director-General, Saeed Mohammed Al Nazari, called on the country's youth to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

He also urged them to continue to adhere to the laws and guidelines after taking the vaccine, in order to achieve full recovery.

Al Nazari pointed out that during the pandemic, the FYA has helped more than 30,000 young men and women acquire new skills and abilities.

It organised more than 500 remote activities and events in coordination with various government and private sector entities.

Over 50,000 young volunteers have also been serving the community in various capacities, at hospitals, quarantine and testing centres, airports, and malls.

"The youth make-up a major factor in handling the pandemic, and are the social group backed by knowledge, training & skills necessary to face challenges," added the official.
