UAE welcomes sixth group of Palestinian patients

WAM

The sixth batch of wounded Palestinian children and cancer patients have arrived in the UAE to receive medical treatment.

Departing from Egypt's Al Arish International Airport, the plane carrying the patients and their family members landed at Abu Dhabi International Airport on Tuesday.

The latest group includes 61 children in urgent need of medical assistance.

They were flown in to Abu Dhabi, under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide medical treatment for 1,000 injured children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip, in the UAE's hospitals.

Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, the UAE has sent 131 aircraft and more than 14,000 tonnes of food, medical and relief supplies, and established a 150-bed field hospital inside the Gaza Strip as part of the 'Gallant Knight 3' humanitarian operation.

Three water desalination plants were also installed in Egypt's Rafah region to help the Gaza Strip with its drinking water needs.
