UAE urges diplomacy, dialogue to prevent regional escalation

WAM

The UAE has called for urgent regional and international action to prevent further military escalation in the Middle East and avoid the widening of conflict.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the UAE condemned the Israeli military strike on Iran from the outset and, five days on, continues to stress the need for a diplomatic solution to de-escalate tensions.

He warned against reckless actions that could push the region into deeper instability and emphasised the importance of swift and coordinated efforts to halt the confrontation.

Sheikh Abdullah noted that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been leading intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting dialogue over confrontation.

He added that the UAE urges all parties to adhere to international law, respect national sovereignty and engage in dialogue.

The UAE is also calling on the United Nations and the Security Council to take urgent action to stop further escalation and restore peace and security.
