UAE to launch new monitoring satellite on SpaceX rocket

via X

The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) announced the MBZ satellite will be launched this month from the United States on a SpaceX Falcon rocket.

The satellite was reportedly entirely built by Emirati engineers and is characterized by its high capacity for accurate imaging and data transfer compared to its counterpart, the Khalifa-SAT.

The satellite’s fully automated image scheduling and processing system will help produce images that exceed the quantity of images currently produced by the center by ten times.

Once in orbit, the satellite will provide map preparation and analysis, monitor environmental changes, and assistant in disaster management efforts.

After its launch, MBZ-SAT will be operated and monitored from the space mission control room at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre. This advanced satellite, dedicated to observing the Earth, will join the UAE satellites that are still completing missions in orbit, greatly enhancing the centre’s capabilities.
