UAE strongly condemns attack on Slovakian Prime Minister

The UAE has strongly condemned the attack on the Slovakian Prime Minister, who suffered life-threatening injuries, after a 71-year-old man shot and wounded him in an attempted assassination on Wednesday.

In a statement, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs said he was saddened to hear of the attack on Robert Fico and wished Prime Minister Fico a speedy recovery. 

His Highness also expressed his ‏sympathy and solidarity‏ to his family, as well as to the government and people of Slovakia. 

The statement also reaffirmed the UAE's categorical condemnation of such criminal and hateful acts of extremism, and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence.
