The UAE has expressed solidarity with Japan after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake shook its southern region on Tuesday, killing at least 13 people, knocking out power to thousands of homes and rupturing roads across the region.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the government, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Rescuers in Japan continue to search for survivors today at a shopping mall near the city of Kumamoto that was torn apart by an explosion just over an hour after Tuesday's earthquake.
