UAE reports 15% drop in labour law violations

The number of private sector companies violating UAE labour laws fell by 15 per cent in the first half of 2026, compared with the same period last year.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), says the decline reflects stronger inspections and the use of smart monitoring tools, including artificial intelligence, data analysis and risk indicators.

MoHRE inspection teams carried out around 212,000 visits during the first six months of the year. The system helps inspectors identify higher-risk companies and focus monitoring efforts where they are most needed.

The number of cases referred to Public Prosecution also dropped sharply, falling 49 per cent to 490 cases, compared with 962 during the first half of 2025.

The most common violations included employing workers without the required permits, failing to pay wages through the Wage Protection System, and submitting incorrect information or documents to the Ministry.

MoHRE has urged private sector companies to secure all required permits before hiring workers and ensure wages are paid through the Wage Protection System on time.

The Ministry says it will continue to strengthen its inspection and compliance systems, while working with employers to promote preventive compliance and protect the rights of both workers and businesses.
