UAE President welcomes Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for signing the historic peace agreement.

In a post on social media platform X, Sheikh Mohamed also commended the efforts of US President Donald Trump in facilitating the talks.

"Working alongside its international partners, the UAE stands committed to strengthening dialogue and diplomacy in service of global peace, stability, and prosperity for all," His Highness added.

In a statement, UAE Minister of State Ahmed Al Sayegh said the agreement reflects the determination and commitment of both countries to peaceful solutions and dialogue, underscoring the importance of resolving disputes through diplomatic means.

Al Sayegh also commended Trump for facilitating the talks and reiterated the UAE’s commitment to strengthening bridges of partnership.

In July, the UAE  hosted a meeting between Aliyev and Pashinyan to advance the peace agenda between the two countries.

At the time Sheikh Mohamed said the decision to hold the talks in the UAE highlighted the global community’s confidence in the UAE as a reliable partner in promoting peace, diplomacy and regional cooperation.

The meeting was held after Sheikh Mohamed held separate talks with the two leaders in the UAE capital.
