UAE President holds talks with Qatar's Sheikh Tamim in Doha

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in Doha on Monday.

Sheikh Mohamed, who landed in Qatar for his first state visit since assuming the president's office early this year, was welcomed by the Qatari leader at Hamad International Airport.

An official reception, which included a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute, was held at the Amiri Diwan to honour the UAE leader.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Sheikh Mohamed said "areas of mutual interests and strengthening bilateral ties between our nations" were discussed.

"I congratulate my brother Tamim bin Hamad and the people of Qatar on hosting the FIFA World Cup and wish them continued success," he added.

Earlier, Sheikh Mohamed had emphasised the UAE’s support for Qatar in hosting the FIFA World Cup, adding that it represents a great achievement for Qatar and the Arab world.
