In a statement marking the 50th anniversary of the unification of the UAE Armed Forces, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the nation’s strength lies in its military, the unity of its society and the resilience of its development model.

Sheikh Mohamed said that since its founding, the UAE has worked to secure prosperity for its people and contribute to global stability, while responding firmly to any threats to its sovereignty and security.

He added that the country remains able to deter aggression, confront threats and sustain progress, thanks to the strength of its armed forces, social cohesion and resilient development model.

His Highness described the unification of the armed forces as a defining moment in the UAE’s history, reflecting the vision of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed, and the country’s early leaders.

Sheikh Mohamed stressed that strengthening defence capabilities will remain a strategic priority, with the armed forces continuing to serve as a shield protecting the nation’s future.

He also said that this year’s anniversary carries special significance, highlighting the armed forces’ decisive role in responding to recent Iranian attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure.

In a post on social media platform X, His Highness extended his appreciation to the women and men of the armed forces, adding that their "unwavering dedication and sacrifice is a source of endless pride to everyone who calls the UAE home".
