WAM

The UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the 16th BRICS Summit on Wednesday, which was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the city of Kazan.

This marks the UAE's first participation as a full member of the BRICS group.

The summit, chaired by Russia this year, focuses on the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security.”

It gathers leaders and heads of government from BRICS nations, along with representatives from invited countries and various international organisations.

Upon arrival at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, the summit venue, His Highness joined fellow leaders for an official group photo.

The event presents an important opportunity for the UAE to engage in discussions aimed at enhancing global cooperation and addressing pressing international issues.

"The UAE supports multilateral cooperation that fosters peace and development while strengthening collective action to address global challenges," said Sheikh Mohamed.
