Nurseries in the UAE will be closed from March 1, the Ministry of Education announced on Saturday.

It comes as authorities take preventive measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the UAE.

During a press conference held on Saturday, the Ministry of Health and Prevention clarified that those diagnosed during the UAE Tour were technicians accompanying the teams, and not the riders.

The 131 student volunteers, who participated in the UAE Tour, did not interact with the infected technicians but will undergo tests for themselves and their families.

"A total 612 people who were in contact with the two Italian patients were examined, and the laboratory results for 450 showed they are free from the virus, while results for the remaining 162 people are expected soon," a top official added.

Officials added that the number of coronavirus cases in the UAE is 21, with five cases having fully recovered.
