UAE marks 1,000 days of humanitarian mission supporting Gaza

WAM

The UAE marked 1,000 days of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 on Sunday, its humanitarian mission providing emergency relief, medical care and recovery support to people in the Gaza Strip.

Launched in November 2023 under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the operation has delivered more than 126,000 tonnes of humanitarian, medical and food aid worth over $3.89 billion through more than 770 relief flights, 25 ships and over 13,000 aid trucks.

Healthcare has remained a key focus of the mission. The UAE says its field hospital in Gaza, medical centres and floating hospital in Egypt have treated more than 230,000 patients, while the "Birds of Goodness" initiative has delivered more than 4,000 tonnes of aid by air to communities that could not be reached by land.

Beyond emergency assistance, the operation has expanded to include food and water security projects, education support and rehabilitation programmes, including prosthetic limb services for amputees.
