President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of congratulations to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also dispatched similar messages of congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion.

The Queen is the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

She will be spending her day privately on the Sandringham estate, with national celebrations to be held in June.

The Queen's reign began when she was 25-years-old, following the death of her father, George VI, on February 6, 1952.
