The Ministry of Health and Prevention has launched a campaign to provide an additional booster dose of the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination for children aged 1 to 7.
This initiative aims to ensure immunity against measles as part of the national elimination programme, and the global goal to eradicate the disease by 2030.
The National Supplementary Measles Immunisation Campaign 2024 is being conducted in partnership with Emirates Health Services, Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and Dubai Health Authority.
Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector, emphasized that the UAE adheres to the latest WHO protocols to ensure safety and effectiveness, aiming for 100% vaccination coverage by 2030.
Dr. Nada Al Marzouqi, Director of the Department of Public Health and Prevention, urged parents to take their children to health centres and school clinics to support the campaign and strengthen community immunity.
She also reassured families that medical teams are available to answer questions and provide support.
