The United Arab Emirates has been appointed to the Consultative Group of the UN Human Rights Council, representing the Asia-Pacific region.
Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, will serve as a member for the 2026–2027 term.
The five-member group plays an advisory role within the Council, including making recommendations on the selection of independent experts who monitor human rights issues worldwide.
Members are nominated by regional groups and serve for one year.
