With students over 12 requiring a negative COVID-19 test on the first day of school, authorities in the UAE have shared a list of 63 health centres providing the service.

Announced by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the list of centres include 20 in Sharjah, 17 in Ras Al Khaimah, 16 in Fujairah, six in Ajman and four in Umm Al Quwain.

According to a WAM report, the move aims to "increase the capacity of the health centres network so more community members can easily and swiftly benefit from the services provided and avoid overcrowding".

These testing centres run from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday, and 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on all other days.

Schools across the UAE started on Sunday, with children above 12 requiring a PCR test, in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, to start the new academic year.

Students in Dubai schools and those enrolled in online learning are reportedly exempt from this rule.
