UAE halts all trade and financial transactions with Iran

WAM

The United Arab Emirates has halted all trade and financial transactions with Iran until further notice.

The Director of the Strategic Communications Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Afra Al Hameli, said the decision has been made in light of regional escalations that undermine regional and international peace and security.

It comes after the Ministry of Defence said that UAE air defence systems detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran towards the country on Tuesday night, targeting maritime navigation.

Al Hameli reiterated the UAE’s steadfast commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and regional integration as essential means of advancing peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Al Hameli also emphasised that the UAE remains firmly committed to safeguarding the integrity of the international financial system, in line with international law and the highest global standards.
