UAE expresses its solidarity with China over victims of floods, landslides

The UAE has expressed its solidarity with China over the victims of floods and landslides near Tibet, close to its border with Nepal, which resulted in several deaths and missing people, as well as significant damage.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) conveyed the UAE’s condolences and sympathy to the victims' families over this tragedy, wishing a speedy recovery for all the injured. 

Triggered by a glacier collapse, a torrent of rock, ice, mud and debris hurtled through mountain river systems on Wednesday.

As of Saturday, at least 669 people have died in Nepal and seven in China's Tibet, with the disaster sweeping away buildings, bridges and power stations.

Meanwhile, nearly 3,000 people remain missing, including about 2,426 in Nepal and 554 in Tibet's Gyirong County.
