UAE delegation holds economic, health talks at UN General Assembly

The UAE delegation continued a series of high-level meetings in New York on the third day of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, with discussions covering trade, energy, technology and healthcare.

Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, met Finnish President Alexander Stubb to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas including energy, renewable energy and advanced technology.

Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, took part in talks on economic cooperation between Africa and the Middle East, highlighting the role of stronger regional partnerships in building a more resilient global economy.

He also met business leaders at an event hosted by the US-UAE Business Council focused on the future of economic ties between the two countries.

Healthcare was another focus of the UAE delegation's programme. Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, and Dr Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister for Health and Life Sciences, met World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to discuss global health priorities and cooperation between the UAE and WHO.

UAE officials also took part in discussions on using data and technology to shift healthcare systems towards greater prediction and prevention, as well as a roundtable on cooperation in life sciences and pharmaceutical development.

Dr Amna Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, meanwhile addressed a high-level meeting on the threat posed by rising sea levels, reiterating the UAE's support for countries particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

Other members of the delegation participated in meetings focused on multilateral cooperation and regional issues during the UN General Assembly's High-Level Week.
