The UAE has strongly condemned the hostile Iranian attack targeting Saudi Arabia's 'Wedyan' tanker while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack threatens the safety of international shipping and represents a dangerous escalation in one of the world's most important maritime routes.
The UAE also expressed its full support for Saudi Arabia and backed all measures to protect its vessels, national interests and freedom of navigation.
The ministry added that targeting commercial ships violates international law and warned that any attempt to use the Strait of Hormuz to disrupt trade or global energy supplies poses a serious threat to regional and international stability.
