Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways have reminded passengers from India to ensure their negative test results have a 48-hour validity before they board their flights.

Taking to their official websites, both carriers added that the test results must be from authorised labs that generate a QR code.

"The UAE government will accept Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT PCR) laboratory results from any lab authorised by the government of India," Emirates said, adding, "Laboratory results will only be accepted from authorised labs that generate a QR code linked to the original report."

It comes as India recorded the world’s biggest single-day rise in COVID cases at 314,835 on Thursday.

Several countries like the US, Hong Kong, Australia and the UK have already issued fresh travel advisories for those flying in from India.
