UAE announces first day of Ramadan

The first day of the holy month of Ramadan will be Monday, March 11.

The UAE's moon-sighting committee made the announcement as the crescent moon was spotted on Sunday.

This means that Sunday will be the 30th day of Sha'ban and Monday will be the first day of Ramadan in the UAE.

As per the Islamic Hijri calendar, each month lasts for 29 or 30 days, depending on when the moon is sighted.
