The UAE has signed a trilateral agreement with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to support development of the Central Asia-South Asia railway project.

The memorandum of understanding was signed during a UAE delegation visit to Kazakhstan led by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Kazakhstan.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening rail connectivity between Central and South Asia, developing transport networks and supporting trade and regional integration.

It also highlights the role of transport corridors in supporting economic growth and improving links between markets across the region.

During the visit, Al Mazrouei also took part in investment discussions with representatives from government and the private sector, including Etihad Rail, AD Ports Group, Masdar and Presight.

The talks reviewed existing projects between the UAE and Kazakhstan and explored further opportunities in infrastructure, transport, energy, investment and technology.

Al Mazrouei also met Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, with discussions covering the development of the Middle Corridor, potential joint projects with AD Ports Group and greater cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

The visit also included participation in the Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference in Almaty, where Al Mazrouei discussed energy security, supply resilience and regional cooperation.

Kazakhstan and the UAE also discussed expanding cooperation in high-performance computing infrastructure and advanced technology.
