Tributes pour in after Emirati drag racer passes away

Tributes have been pouring in for 24-year-old Emirati drag racer, Hamda Taryam, who died in the early hours of Saturday.

She had featured in the Netflix show The Fastest – the first Arabic reality show which highlighted the region’s love for motorsport, and also created the Hamda Foundation to support orphans in the Ugandan town of Masaka.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attended her funeral service in Wasit.

He also directed the allocation of AED 1 million to support Hamda Foundation complete their projects.

Several people took to social media to pay their respects.

"Thank you for all what you did for humanity," wrote a social media user, while another added: "Your kindness will never be forgotten".
