Dubai is recognising the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum in transforming the emirate into one of the world’s leading aviation hubs.

In a post on social media, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Deputy Prime  Minister and Defence Minister, announced that Sheikh Ahmed will receive the Dubai-it Award for his outstanding contribution to the aviation sector.

Under his leadership, Emirates has expanded its fleet nearly 139-fold and its destination network 76-fold, while flydubai has also grown rapidly.

Dubai International Airport has also achieved a record 95.2 million passengers in a single year, setting a global record for international passenger traffic.

From a sandy runway and two leased aircraft to a world-leading aviation hub, Dubai’s journey reflects Sheikh Ahmed’s leadership and the vision that continues to drive the emirate’s growth.
