Sharjah will replace half of its current fleet of taxis with more than 750 new cabs. Reports suggest the replacement will cost around AED 42.75 million. The Sharjah Road and Transport Authority has said the revamp will take place this year and during the first quarter of 2016. Around 16 million passengers are transported by taxis in the emirate every year.
