Sharjah Police arrest suspect accused of turning home into drugs 'factory'

SHARJAH POLICE MEDIA CENTRE

Sharjah Police have arrested an Asian man accused of converting his residence into a mini e-cigarette “factory” to package and promote drugs.

In a major operation carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Department, the arrest follows surveillance and monitoring procedures that confirmed the possession of a quantity of narcotics intended for distribution.

When the site was raided, a quantity of manually filled electronic cigarettes was seized, in addition to the tools and equipment used in the filling and packaging process.

Brigadier Majid Sultan Al Asam, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, said investigations revealed a sophisticated method of trafficking.

The suspect had transformed his home into a small-scale facility where he manually filled e-cigarette cartridges with narcotic substances and packaged them to resemble regular commercial vaping products.

Brigadier Al-Asam affirmed that the security services will continue to combat the scourge of drugs, and that dealing with such crimes is done through precise plans that rely on monitoring, follow-up and coordination to ensure the arrest of the dealers and the protection of society.

He stressed that drugs represent a direct threat to the security and safety of young people, and that the security services will not hesitate to pursue anyone proven to be involved in bringing in or promoting these substances.

Sharjah Police also renewed their call for community vigilance, urging parents in particular to closely monitor their children’s behaviour and maintain open dialogue within families to prevent youth from falling prey to drug abuse.
