Sharjah has started handing out AED 9.14 million in annual bonuses to owners of old taxi number plates for the year 2025.

Making the announcement, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority said the amount would benefit 4,572 owners whose taxi plates are currently operated by franchise companies under the SRTA's umbrella.

Each owner was given AED 2,000 in bonus, the authority added.

This initiative follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and aims to enhance the standard of living for low-income citizens.
