Five new abras will be added to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) fleet to enhance water transport network on Dubai Creek and Marina.

That's the word from Mohammed Abu Bakr Al Hashmi, Director of Marine Transport at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, who explained that it was to meet the "growing demands" of residents and tourists.

The new abras can accommodate 24 riders.

"The abras are lighter in weight and is also designed to enable transforming into electric abras," Al Hashmi added.

Three abras will take to the waters this month, while the remaining two will be in February.
