Over 9,000 e-scooters seized in Abu Dhabi under road safety efforts

Abu Dhabi Police/X

Abu Dhabi Police have seized 9,237 electric scooters over the past ten months for traffic violations, as part of ongoing campaigns to tighten security measures and improve road safety.

Violations included using the scooters on public roads, between vehicles, and in undesignated lanes.

The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate emphasised that riding e-scooters between vehicles. failing to pay attention to traffic, and not wearing the required safety equipment are among the most dangerous behaviors.

The authority added that such actions significantly increase the likelihood of traffic accidents that could result in serious injuries or fatalities.

It also urged scooter riders to use designated paths, follow speed limits and traffic signals, and wear protective gear to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
