Over 1,500 vehicles impounded as Dubai Police step up crackdown on noisy cars

Dubai Police

Dubai Police have impounded 1,630 vehicles and issued 7,735 fines during the first nine months of 2026 as part of a crackdown on excessive vehicle noise and illegal modifications.

It added that 2,045 violations and 33 vehicles were impounded for "excessive noise", while 5,690 violations and 1,297 vehicles were impounded for unauthorised engine modifications.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, warned against modifications that make vehicles louder or more dangerous, especially in residential areas, and urged drivers to avoid reckless behaviour that could put lives at risk.

Those driving noisy cars face a fine of AED 2,000 and 12 back points, while the penalty for illegal modifications carries a fine of AED 1,000, 12 black points and 30 days of vehicle impoundment.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan explained that additional measures may apply depending on the nature of the offence.

Residents are encouraged to report any violations via the Dubai Police smart app or by calling 901.

Dubai Police said it will intensify inspections and traffic monitoring using smart tech to identify offenders and take appropriate legal action.
