Dubai is set to launch 15 new public recycling stations. These will mainly serve residents living in high-density areas of the city that do not have access to door-to-door recycling schemes. Meanwhile, the municipality's door-to-door waste collection and recycling programme will be extended to 22 new locations by the end of the year, covering 26, 000 houses. According to official statistics, 3.5 million metric tonnes of general waste were generated in the emirate in the first quarter of 2015.
