New Down Syndrome centre opens in Dubai

A new facility to improve the quality of life for children with Down Syndrome has opened in Dubai.

The Dubai Down Syndrome Centre will offer children and adolescents with the condition a safe environment where they can learn life, social and independence skills.

The centre's educational team is comprised of occupational and speech therapists as well as teachers specialising in art, music, drama, and physical education.

Down Syndrome is a rare genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra chromosome. 

It affects around 1 in every 1,000 births, with no cause in 96 per cent of cases
