Money exchange in UAE issues scam alert

123RF

There’s a new financial scam doing the rounds in the UAE, and this time it’s in the name of a prominent money transfer firm.

Al Ansari Exchange is urging residents to watch out for fake texts, calls and social media messages promising cash prizes.

The company says it contacts promotion winners only through its official phone numbers.

It’s also clarified that it never asks customers for their personal data or bank account details to claim prizes.

The warning comes after reports of several people receiving scam messages or fraudulent calls.

When in doubt, customers can check the list of winners on Al Ansari Exchange’s website, and also through its branches, official social media channels and customer service number.
