Missing oil tanker not owned by UAE

An oil tanker that reportedly disappeared while passing through the Strait of Hormuz is not owned by the UAE.

According to national news agency WAM, a UAE official has confirmed in a statement that the tanker MT RIAH is neither owned or operated by the Emirates.

The official also clarified that the vessel does not carry Emirati personnel.

He added that they are monitoring the situation with international partners.

The tanker has reportedly been missing since Saturday when it stopped transmitting its location.
