Marwah Fadel named first head of UAE’s public-run authority

WAM

Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Community-Managed Virtual Authority, has appointed Marwah Fadel as the authority’s first Director-General.

It comes days after the UAE launched the new authority, which is designed to be run by members of the public.

The authority was set up under the Presidential Court by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, following the directives of UAE President Hish Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The authority will bring together young people, professionals, academics, entrepreneurs and retirees to develop solutions and national projects.

Its management changes in cycles. For each term, a new Director-General is chosen from qualified members of the community, supported by teams also drawn from the public.

The authority is inspired by the approach of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Fadel is currently Director of Communications and Public Relations at Emirates Foundation. She has worked in media and strategic communications across the Abu Dhabi Government, the federal government and the private sector.

She holds a master’s degree in Strategic Public Relations and is part of the fourth cohort of the UAE National Experts Programme’s media track.
