Man held in Abu Dhabi with 48 tonnes of drugs

A man has been arrested in Abu Dhabi for smuggling more than 48 tonnes of narcotics and psychotropic substances into the country.

According to the Public Prosecution, the Asian national had arranged a warehouse to store the drugs that he planned to sell.

The suspect was nabbed following an intensive surveillance operation by the Anti-Narcotics Department at the Abu Dhabi Police. The seized haul weighed 48 tonnes and 693 kg.

As the UAE authorities continue to crackdown on drug trafficking, the Prosecution has called on the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities.
