A 10-year-plan has been approved by the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to improve marine transport services on Dubai Water Canal.
It will be implemented in three different phases, with the initial stage providing connections to Jaddaf, Dubai Design District and Sheikh Zayed Road Stations, as well as more abra and water bus services.
New transit lines, marine stations and ferry services will also be introduced in the remaining phases.
The first stage of the project will be completed in 2020, the second phase in 2025 and the third by 2030.
The changes are aimed at keeping pace with the urban development on the two shores of the Canal.
