The UAE’s Ministry of Labour is urging private companies to implement occupational health and safety procedures to minimise accidents at the work place. It’s also warning of tough action against firms failing to report cases of workers’ injuries, illnesses or death. A fine of AED10, 000 will be imposed on companies for non-compliance. Violators could also have their names blacklisted. The law requires employers to bear the cost of treatment as well as transport expenses for injuries sustained while on duty.
