H.H. Sheikh Mohammed receives COVID-19 vaccine

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, has received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Sheikh Mohammed posted an image of a healthcare worker administering the injection.

"While receiving the coronavirus vaccine. We wish everyone safety and great health, and are proud of our teams who have worked relentlessly to make the vaccine available in the UAE. The future will always be better in the UAE," His Highness wrote.

The UAE has already received approval to administer the COVID-19 vaccine that is being trialled for emergency cases.

Frontline workers have been among the first recipients of the trial.

A number of senior government ministers and officials have also received the vaccine.

It follows the success of Phase I and Phase II conducted by Sinopharm in China, which resulted in 100 per cent of the volunteers generating antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes Covid-19) after two doses in 28 days.
