H.H. Sheikh Mohammed joins TikTok to connect with more followers

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has officially joined the social media video platform, TikTok.

Sheikh Mohammed is sharing short clips of his 50-year journey in public service, providing insights in leadership and management to inspire the youth.

The account's launch shows his keenness to connect with his followers, especially the younger generation who make up the majority of the short-form platform’s audience.

Young people are at the centre of several initiatives that Sheikh Mohammed oversees including the Arab Reading Challenge, Arab Hopemakers, one million Arab coders and Madrasa that benefits millions of young people across the Arab region.

In just 24 hours, the Ruler of Dubai's new TikTok social media account has gathered more than 164,000 followers.

Sheikh Mohammed has posted two inspirational videos which have received 217,000 likes.

One features the nation's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, showing images of emergency responders and frontline staff.

It says "we work tirelessly and thrive in critical times" and stresses that "teamwork makes us stronger."

The other video focuses on the strength and speed of animals in the wild, motivating people in the UAE to make the most of their day.

His Highness is one of the most followed world leaders on social media with more than 22.6 million followers across the main platforms.

According to the latest figures, Sheikh Mohammed's followers reached 10.4 million on Twitter, 5.4 million on Instagram, 3.8 million on Facebook and 2.4 million on LinkedIn.
