His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, opened the new session of the Federal National Council (FNC) on Monday.

It marked the start of the second ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the FNC.

Sheikh Mohammed inaugurated the session on behalf of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, along with Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, dignitaries, civic and military officials, and members of the diplomatic corps.

The event began with the reading of Federal Decree No. 163 of 2024, issued by President Sheikh Mohamed, calling the FNC to convene for its second session.

FNC Speaker, Saqr Ghobash, delivered a keynote address, expressing gratitude to the leadership for their continued support, which he said has enabled council members to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

He also highlighted the leadership's role in empowering citizens, including the declaration of UAE Education Day, celebrated annually on February 28, to promote excellence in future-focused fields.

In his address, Ghobash reaffirmed the FNC’s commitment to working closely with the government to serve the nation, its people, and its leadership, stressing the shared dedication to the country’s progress and citizens' welfare.
